Working hours
According to Finnish law, the maximum regular hours of work are 8 hours a day or 40 hours per week. Collective agreements for many sectors also specify shorter hours, e.g. 37.5 hours per week, in those industries. Depending on the type of work, the length of the working day may also vary greatly, and may exceed the 8-hour day. However, working hours must always average no more than 40 hours per week over the long term.
There are limits on overtime work, and higher rates of pay apply. In general the maximum overtime of an employee is 250 hours a year.
